The remarkable diet required to fuel a career in the NFL has been laid bare by a food vlogger who ‘survived’ eating like JJ Watt for 24 hours.
ErikTheElectric, who has amassed nearly 3million subscribers taking on eating challenges on Youtube, ate 21,620 calories in less than a day.
It came after NFL defensive end turned Burnley minority-owner JJ Watt revealed his daily routine of two breakfasts, two lunches, two dinners – and even his three cheat meals.
The Youtuber decided to take them all on in one day, a challenge which involved a vast array of foods including 10 eggs, broccoli, beef brisket and potato pancake.
Watt spent 12 seasons in the NFL before retiring in January of this year. The former defensive end stands at 6ft5ins and weighed 288lbs.

To fuel that frame, his first breakfast would include six eggs, oatmeal and an array of fruit such as strawberries, blueberries and a banana.
In total, the vlogger took on around 3,000 calories. That’s more than the recommended daily allowance for both women (2,000) and men (2,500).
Watt’s second breakfast involved eating four eggs and four slices of wheat toast. Two were covered in peanut butter, banana and honey, with the others eaten with jelly. That took the calorie count to (4,580).
What followed was the first of three cheat meals – stuffed French toast served with maple syrup, followed by potato pancake – which included another 4,150 calories.

‘Lunch one’ involved three chicken breasts, wrapped in bacon and served with Italian dressing
‘Lunch one’ involved three chicken breasts, wrapped in bacon and served with Italian dressing alongside broccoli and a plate of whole wheat pasta.
‘Lunch two’, meanwhile, consisted of more chicken breasts, mashed sweet potatoes and steamed carrots. Together the two meals consisted of a staggering 4,250 calories.
ErikTheElectric reached the 14,000-calorie mark with his second cheat meal of the day: BBQ brisket. He estimated that, by then, he already had taken on 650 grams of protein – more than he’d normally eat across a whole week.
But then came his two dinners: lamb chops, grilled asparagus, whole wheat pasta, filet mignon, steamed broccoli and yet more pasta. All that was left? Cheat meal No 3: an entire packet of Oreos and 2,900 more calories.
‘I am stuffed to the brim – it’s like I have a newborn child in there,’ the Youtuber admitted.
