The lorry overturned on Highway 400 near the town of Aurora, Ontario yesterday, leaving behind a carpet of green, with cops having to seal off three lanes due to the bizarre spillage.

The truck was left on its side with the salad staple strewn across the carriageway.

Luckily, the driver escaped unhurt and no other motorists were injured following the accident.

In August last year, a highway in Tennessee was drenched with Alfredo sauce after a truck carrying hundreds of jars of the condiment crashed into a median strip.

Memphis Police confirmed that a tractor-trailer struck a median on I-55, causing the contents of the vehicle to spill and cover all three lanes on the northbound side of the highway.

The woman driving the truck suffered minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital.

Video of the aftermath showed the road covered in the sauce as a cleanup crew worked to remove the jars and palettes from the highway, all while a tow truck attempted to remove the destroyed trailer.

Another truck spillage that month saw more than 150,000 tomatoes splattered across the Interstate 80 highway in California.

Three people suffered minor injuries and a fourth was hospitalized with a broken leg.

An initial collision led to the truck swerving into the central divide of the motorway, spilling its content across a 200ft section, according to reports.

It left behind a sea of red sauce around ‘two feet deep’, said Highway Patrol Officer Jason Tyhurst.

Vehicles ran over the squished vegetables, creating a dangerous mush of tomato juice, oil and dirt.
