Humza Yousaf’s wife Nadia El-Nakla has revealed her family trapped in Gaza were ‘hit by a drone’ while sheltering from Israeli strikes.
The First Minister of Scotland’s wife Mrs El-Nakla said that two minutes before speaking to LBC London today her mother called her to say her aunt, uncle and their three children were struck by a drone while sitting outside their house.
It comes after Mrs El-Nakla said she had gone from ‘fearful to complete despair’ this week as her parents, who were visiting Gaza from Dundee, were being repeatedly bombed and unable to escape.
She said today: ‘Two minutes before this call, my mother called me. My aunt and uncle and their three children – the youngest is just two – were sitting outside their home and they got hit by a drone.
‘Thankfully, the drone hit off a metal fire extinguisher and now my two-year-old cousin is covered in shrapnel.

‘My mum is crying, she said ”we’re removing the shrapnel, but don’t worry they’re OK, it’s just deep in their skin”. My mum’s an ex-nurse.
‘There’s absolutely no way for that kind of treatment. You cannot go to hospital for that kind of treatment right now.’
She added: ‘I want an urgent ceasefire. I want to see humanitarian aid going into Gaza, and I want foreign nationals out.’
Mrs El-Nakla’s parents Elizabeth and Maged El-Nakla became trapped in the Palestinian territory when Hamas launched its bloody cross-border attack.
The couple were visiting Mr El-Nakla’s 92-year-old mother, who lives in Gaza, as do several other family members.
Mrs El-Nakla said today that her mother, father, grandmother, brother, three nephews, her niece and other members of the family are all in Gaza.

Mrs El-Nakla spoke about the situation at the start of the SNP conference in Aberdeen, where an emergency motion was passed unanimously by delegates that calls on the Government to back United Nations demands for a humanitarian corridor.
‘Instead of sending spy planes, the UK should be sending supplies,’ the SNP councillor told the conference, to applause from delegates.
‘No food, no water, no electricity. We are seeing an attack on humanity and my heart feels like it is starting to turn to stone. Gaza is being obliterated like never before.
‘My mum has said in the past eight days there has not been a let up for more than 10 minutes.’
