Timothée Chalamet has addressed the horrific sexual assault allegations that were made against his Call Me by Your Name co-star Armie Hammer, and shut down rumors that his film Bones and All was inspired by the controversy.
Hammer, 36, was skyrocketed into the spotlight after he starred in the coming of age romantic drama Call Me By Your Name alongside Chalamet, 27, in 2017 – but his career and reputation were completely shattered after he was accused of rape and cannibalism by multiple women in 2021.
Soon after the allegations came to light, Chalamet began filming the movie Bones and All – a love story that followed two cannibals who are on the run together – leading many to wonder if Chalamet’s character had been based off of Hammer.
Now, the Wonka star has spoken out about the speculation during an interview with GQ, and he insisted that the story had absolutely nothing to do with the drama surrounding his former costar Hammer.

‘I mean, what were the chances that we’re developing this thing [when the Hammer story broke]?’ he reflected to the publication.
He added that it actually made him more determined to make the movie, since it actually came from a 2015 novel of the same name written by Camille DeAngelis.
‘It made me feel like, now I’ve really got to do this, because this is actually based on a book,’ he continued.

When asked how he felt about the allegations against Hammer, Chalamet admitted: ‘I don’t know. These things end up getting clickbaited so intensely. Disorienting is a good word.’
In early 2021, a series of vile, graphic Instagram messages allegedly sent by Hammer to a mistress leaked online – and they contained gruesome comments from him discussing rape fantasy and cannibalism.
Soon after, a slew of other alleged ex-lovers came forward and accused him of ‘mental, emotional, and sexual abuse’ – with one claiming he begged her to let him ‘break her ribs and eat them,’ and another stating that he carved his initial into her skin with a knife before licking her blood.
At the time, Hammer fiercely denied the accusations, calling them ‘bulls**t claims’ and branding the whole thing as a ‘vicious and spurious online attacks against him.’
His wife, Elizabeth Chambers, with whom Hammer shares two children, Harper, eight, and Ford, six, then filed for divorce after 10 years of marriage.
In March 2021, three months after the initial cannibalism accusation hit the web, it was announced that police were investigating claims that Hammer had raped a young woman, who was later identified as Efrosina Angelova.
He insisted the story had absolutely nothing to do with the drama surrounding Hammer, and that it was based off a 2015 book. He’s seen in the movie with costar Taylor Russell

The then-24-year-old said the incident took place three years prior, in April 2017, and alleged that Hammer ‘committed acts of violence’ against her which she ‘did not consent’ to.
She said he ‘repeatedly slammed her head against a wall’ during the four-hour encounter, and that he also whipped her feet with a crop, leaving her in pain for days. Hammer’s lawyers denied her claims.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney announced earlier this year that Hammer would not be charged due to ‘insufficient evidence.’
When Bones and All first came out last year, director Luca Guadagnino – who was also behind Call Me By Your Name – slammed the speculation that it had to do with Hammer as ‘preposterous.’
‘David Kajganich and Theresa Park, the writer and one of our producers, have been working on Bones and All since the book was released [in 2015],’ he said.
‘Many years ago, probably around the time when we were shooting Call Me by Your Name.
‘It was to be directed by my great colleague Antonio Campos, but he decided not to go for it.
‘That’s when they gave me the script. Any correlation with this kind of innuendo and silliness is preposterous.’
Amid the controversy, Hammer was quickly shunned from Hollywood – he was kicked out of the movies and shows that he had been cast in and was even dropped by his own publicist – forcing him to ultimately flee California to live a much-quieter life in the Cayman Islands.
He spent nine months in rehab, and he then got a new job as a timeshare salesman for a resort – certainly a vast difference from the once-glamorous life he lead as Hollywood’s golden boy.
The shamed star moved back to Los Angeles in July 2022 – and he spoke in detail about his fall from the spotlight and the numerous accusations made against him for the first time months later during an interview with Graydon Carter’s Air Mail.

He insisted that while he was an ‘a**hole’ and ‘one million per cent’ emotionally abused younger women, he is not a criminal.
‘I would scoop up these women, bring them into it – into this whirlwind of travel and sex and drugs and big emotions flying around – and then as soon as I was done, I’d just drop them off and move on to the next woman, leaving that woman feeling abandoned or used,’ he claimed.
In addition, Hammer defended his sexual interests by saying he was sexually abused by a youth pastor at age 13.
‘What that did for me was it introduced sexuality into my life in a way that it was completely out of my control,’ he revealed.
‘I was powerless in the situation. I had no agency in the situation. Sexuality was introduced to me in a scary way where I had no control. My interests then went to: I want to have control in the situation, sexually.’
The actor branded himself as a victim of cancel culture, and admitted that he still hopes for a comeback.
‘I’m now a healthier, happier, more balanced person,’ he told the outlet. ‘I’m able to be there for my kids in a way I never was.
‘I’m truly grateful for my life and my recovery and everything. I would not go back and undo everything that’s happened to me.’
Hammer explained that he was giving the interview because he wanted to ‘own his mistakes’ and take ‘accountability for the fact that he was selfish and used people to make himself feel better.’
‘There are examples everywhere, of people who went through those things and found redemption through a new path,’ he added.
‘And that, I feel like, is what’s missing in this cancel-culture, woke-mob business. The minute anyone does anything wrong, they’re thrown away. There’s no chance for rehabilitation.’
In addition, he addressed the rape accusations from Angelova, claiming that it was all a ‘meticulously’ planned ‘scene’ of ‘consensual non-consent.’

Chalamet’s new interview with GQ comes shortly after he was spotted spending time in Paris with his new love interest, 26-year-old Kylie Jenner. She recently revealed her phone wallpaper to be a very cozy photo of Chalamet kissing her cheek
‘This alleged rape was a scene that was her idea,’ the actor said. ‘She planned all of the details out, all the way down to what Starbucks I would see her at, how I would follow her home, how her front door would be open and unlocked and I would come in, and we would engage in what is called a “consensual non-consent scene.”
‘Every single thing was discussed beforehand. I have never thrust this on someone unexpectedly. Never.’
Hammer told Air Mail that since returning to LA, he had started working as a sober companion for a recovering addict, and that he planned to ‘move in with him’ to help him ‘get on a healthy routine.’
‘[I want to] get him into a good schedule of [recovery] meetings, take him to the gym, cook healthy food for him,’ he concluded.
‘It feels like my recovery has taken a turn from me being the one who needs help staying sober, to me being able to help others.’

Since going public with their relationship at Beyoncé’s Renaissance concert in Los Angeles, the two have continued to make scattered appearances together.
In early September, they accompanied one another to a New York Fashion Week dinner hosted by designer Haider Ackermann.
The two sat next to each other during the candlelit meal and both stars were dressed in black.
Although neither party has spoken publicly on their pairing, Jenner has been spotted arriving and leaving Chalamet’s place in LA throughout this year.
The makeup mogul even recently revealed her phone wallpaper to be a very cozy photo of Chalamet kissing her cheek.
And while out and about together, the duo has not shied away from public displays of affection.
Jenner and Chalamet were seen canoodling in the audience at the Renaissance show as they chatted, hugged and shared lots of kisses.
They then were seen together at a US Open tennis match in New York City, where they once again leaned into PDA.
