Police are searching for two women after an ‘assault’ on the London Underground forced a three-year-old child fall to the platform floor.

Detectives from the British Transport Police are investigating the attack which occurred on the Essex border at Redbridge Underground station on October 8.

The incident happened around 10pm when a woman tried to intervene in an argument and ended up getting punched, with her child then falling to the floor.

Police have released two pictures of the women they would like to speak to in connection to the incident and are calling for witnesses to come forward.

Details about the child’s condition have not been released.

A spokesman said: ‘Do you recognise these women? Detectives investigating an assault at Redbridge Underground station are today releasing these images in connection.

‘At around 10pm on 8 October 2023, the victim intervened in an argument between two other women and a man on a Central Line train.

‘Officers believe the women in the image may have information which could help their investigation.

‘If you recognise them, or have any information, please contact BTP by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 612 of 08/10/2023.’
