Friends star Matthew Perry may have slipped back into drug abuse and had been unusually tired in the final days of his life, it was claimed last night.

The troubled actor died aged 54 in an apparent drowning accident in the hot tub in the garden of his Los Angeles home on Saturday night.

As police sources said they had found numerous prescription painkillers and anti-anxiety pills in his house, a close friend revealed there had been worrying signs of ‘fatigue’ in the days leading up to his death.

The coroner for Los Angeles County has listed Matthew Perry‘s cause of death as ‘deferred’, pending the final results of toxicology tests.

David Schwimmer looked downbeat on Sunday just one day after the death of his Friends co-star Matthew Perry.

Schwimmer managed to flash a peace sign as he was spotted opening the door to his home in New York City as he received a takeout order of Chinese food and some bubble tea from Xing Fu Tang.

Schwimmer carefully concealed as much of his face as possible with a black face mask and a baseball cap, but he acknowledged those gathered outside with the gesture.

Lisa Kudrow has said she is ‘baffled’ by the death of her Friends co-star Matthew Perry after he had finally found ‘peace with himself.’

‘Although no one wants to believe it was medication – prescribed or not – of course that is a thought in their minds,’ a source close to Kudrow told Dailymail.com.

‘They are thinking he must have taken something that did not mix with the warm water.’

Shocked New Yorkers laid tributes to the star outside the Greenwich Village building that featured in the show’s cutaways and was the setting for the adventures of the six beloved characters.

Some left notes, with one reading ‘Rest in peace’, while another left a single cigarette in reference to the episode where Perry’s character Chandler tried to give up smoking.

An official joint statement from Friends and Warner Bros TV paid tribute to Matthew Perry on Saturday in the wake of the sad news.

Responders were sent for an unexplained ‘water emergency’ at his Los Angeles home following a 911 call at 4.07pm Saturday.
Medics attempted a ‘water rescue’ but efforts to revive him were unsuccessful and he was declared dead at the scene in an apparent drowning, without being taken to hospital.

Matthew perry was spotted out to dinner with a friend last Saturday, October 21, in what appears to be the last public outing of the actor captured on camera.

Perry and his male friend had just stopped by to eat at the Apple Pan on W Pico Blvd, which is famous for its hamburgers and pies since its founding in 1947.

Perry and Trudeau had attended school together as youngsters, with Perry previously admitting on the Jimmy Kimmel Show that he beat him up.

The actor, who shot to fame as the sarcastic Chandler Bing in the seminal 90s sitcom, was found dead at his house in Los Angeles on Saturday after emergency crews were called at around 4pm local time.

He had reportedly played a two-hour game of Pickleball – a sport similar to tennis but played on a smaller court – earlier in the day, before sending his assistant out on an errand. When they returned, Perry was said to be found unresponsive in his hot tub.

Friends, which followed the lives of six friends in their 20s living in New York, was a smash hit across the globe when it aired between 1994 and 2004, and re-runs still remain hugely popular years later.
