A light aircraft crash-landing in Central Victoria has left one person dead and another badly injured.
The aircraft, a gyrocopter, is believed to have crashed onto a private property on the corner of Snipey Rd and Murchison-Goulburn Weir Rd at about 7:15am on Sunday.
The yet-to-be-identified pilot of the aircraft died at the scene while the passenger was airlifted to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
It’s understood the two people flying the gyrocopter, over Goulburn Weir before encountering trouble and crashing.
The aircraft is a form of helicopter that does not utilise an engine to spin the rotor, instead using airflow from underneath the cabin to provide upwards propulsion.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
Anyone with information or dashcam footage of the incident has been urger to contact CrimeStoppers.
More to come.
