Drivers have blasted the ‘sick’ kids who threw heavy rocks and chunks of patio at their cars along the A467 at night in a terrifying string of incidents.
Police are hunting down the culprits after several people reported rocks smashing through their windows on the road near Risca in Caerphilly, South Wales, in recent days.
Ian Pugh, 39, said he is lucky to be alive after a patio slab chunk crashed through his windscreen just inches from his head while he was driving at 70mph on the busy A-road.
Others have since reported the same thing happening to them on social media, with a video on Facebook showing the damage done to a woman’s Suzki after a rock smashed through the grill of her car.
The terrified driver wrote: ‘Everyone be aware on Risca bypass. There are kids hiding in the bushes throwing very large rocks at cars, it was lucky I was going at a decent speed.
‘They busted by radiator and grill. This is happening to a lot of people in the area.’

Another woman reported her terror on TikTok after her spouse’s vehicle was affected, writing: ‘My husband’s van was hit and windscreen smashed at Risca bypass brickwork two weeks ago – also reported to the police.’

The culprits have been branded ‘sick’ after scaring drivers and risking their lives on the busy A-road at night – with family members scared for their relatives.
One person wrote: ‘Oh my god, my daughter and boyfriend had the same thing happen to them too, how sick and frightening.’
A third added: ‘Happened to me three days ago. Bunch of little kids on the stone wall overlooking the bypass.’
Another woman on Facebook shared a photo of her smashed window screen that appeared to have been hit with a smaller rock.
She said: ‘This happened to us a week last Saturday exact same area had to have a new windscreen. No one to be seen so wasn’t sure how it happened.’
Mr Pugh said that fortunately the 1.5inch thick block only hit his shoulder and no other cars were on the road with him.
‘It was terrifying,’ he told the BBC. ‘If it was a couple of inches to the right it could have been a fatality.
‘There was nobody else around so I can only think it was thrown from the edge of the road.’
He added that he was ‘lucky’ to be driving solo, as if other people were in the car they could have been ‘showered with glass’ or hit with the slab that split into three parts on impact.

Gwent Police were called to the incident at 8.45pm on October 29 and are continuing to probe the incident. MailOnline has contacted the force for further updates.
In a shocking video shared on TikTok, the frightened driver showed the damage to his vehicle, with a huge dent close to the driver’s side of the windscreen.
In a warning to other drivers he said: ‘If anybody is coming up Risca bypass by the roadworks, be very careful and use the right hand lane.
‘People are throwing bricks and I’ve just had a bit of a patio slab thrown at the car so luckily it hit my shoulder, if it was a couple of centimeters to the right it would have had me in the face. So just be careful people.’
Mr Pugh went on to tell the broadcaster that his ‘beard was full of glass’ and a few days after the incident he found ‘a little bit of shard of glass in my top lift’.
He thinks the group causing the nuisance had been standing on the side of the road with ‘nothing better to do’ and had not realised the damage they were causing.
One woman said she was behind Mr Pugh at the time of the incident. She wrote on Facebook: ‘I was behind must have had the debris hit me or maybe something else thrown as it hit both sides car door and front bumper I thought as you turned off at Cwmcarn your windscreen was smashed very scary for us can imagine how you felt.’
