The Apprentice star Dr Asif Munaf has been suspended from the medical register pending a GMC investigation just one week after the BBC dropped him from their spin-off show for making ‘anti-Semitic remarks’.

The former NHS doctor, 34, sparked a furious backlash after he made a series of ‘anti-Jewish’ posts, including calling Zionism a ‘satanic cult’ and Zionists ‘odiously ogre-like’ in the aftermath of Hamas‘ murderous October 7 attacks.

Calls for the BBC to take action against Munaf, who also appeared on Dragon’s Den, resulted in him being given diversity and inclusion training.

The show still aired, with the 34-year-old fired last week, but he was edited out of episodes of spin off The Apprentice: You’re Fired.

Now, following further calls from outraged viewers and the Jewish community, Munaf has been suspended from the medical register and is under investigation.

A GMC spokesperson told MailOnline: ‘Dr Mohammed Munaf has been interim suspended pending the conclusion of a full GMC investigation.

‘An Interim Orders Tribunal of the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service imposed the interim suspension on his practice yesterday

‘We are acutely aware of the concerns that have been raised regarding Dr Munaf, and we will take action where concerns suggest patient safety or the public’s confidence in doctors may be at risk.’

Last week Munaf said he wasn’t shaken by calls to have him struck off the medical register over his ‘anti-Semitic remarks’.

In a series of posts of X, formerly Twitter, he wrote: ‘They have tried to get me struck off by referring me to the General Medical Council.

‘They think this will shake me. It only strengthens me. Don’t they know that the exact amount of money I will make before I die was written before I was even conceived? I have absolute conviction in my Lords Decree.’

The candidate also said the show ‘isn’t the biggest thing I’ve ever done in my life’ after he was dropped from the spin-off You’re Fired.

He added: ‘Unlike most other candidates, the show is just one small chapter in my life. It’s not my entire personality. Nor is it the biggest thing I’ve done in my life. This is why they are beholden to the broadcaster and I am free. Alhamdulillah for Islam.’

In another Tweet, Dr Asif said: ‘Staying silent is the epitome of cowardice.’

He was also accused by ‘horrified’ fellow contestants of making vile comments about women and ‘only having sex with virgins’ – he quickly denied the claims.

‘Asif made the candidates feel uncomfortable. They were particularly shocked when they heard the way he spoke about sex and women,’ a source told The Sun.

The source added: ‘Crew members were also horrified and could not believe someone with this attitude had made it so far in the process.’
