A two-year-old girl has been killed after she was run over by a car following a family function.
The child was struck by the car on Arrino Crescent, Hallam, in Melbourne‘s southeast, just after 5pm on Sunday.
It’s understood the little girl had run out behind the reversing vehicle before she was hit and died at the scene.
Neighbours recalled seeing their street lined with police cars following the incident, while one said they heard children screaming at the time of the collision.

‘It is shocking. The family had a function at the house and were on their way home,’ one neighbour named Angela told the Herald Sun.
A family with three children live at the home where the gathering had been held.
Another neighbour said the street was ‘always full of cars because it is very narrow’.
‘It is very annoying because you walk outside and there are always random cars parked on your nature strip.’
‘Cars fly around corners here and because it is usually very quiet, they don’t tend to look.’
Victoria Police are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
‘Emergency services were quickly on the scene but the pedestrian, a young child, could not be revived,’ they said in a statement.
‘The driver of the car stopped at the scene.’
