Three men have been arrested in during a tense police operation outside the Sydney Jewish Museum.

NSW Police officers were called to the museum in inner-city Darlinghurst shortly after midday on Friday.

It’s alleged the men performed Nazi salutes, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.

A spokesman confirmed to Daily Mail Australia that the police operation is ongoing.

‘There is no ongoing risk to the public,’ he added.

‘Darlinghurst Road remains closed while an investigation into the incident continues.’

Footage from the scene shows several police cars at the scene and Darlinghurst Road cordoned off.

Officers were seen searching a vehicle outside the museum, which has since been cleared of any threat.

The three men arrested were taken to Kings Cross Police Station where they’re currently being questioned.

No charges have yet been laid at this early stage.

The museum was founded in 1992 by Holocaust survivors who fled to Sydney after World War II to begin new lives.
