Another fan described the track as ‘absolutely brilliant’ and ‘a stellar song that could easily fit in with your early discography,’ adding that Wonder and Gaga added ‘an extra layer of magic to the song making it something truly special.’
Fans cited the individual standouts on the track, saying that Jagger, who turned 80 in July, ‘does not sound like an 80 year old man’ and that Gaga’s ‘vocals were literally the sounds of heaven.’
In the track, Wonder plays the keyboards while Gaga sings in a blues-gospel style as the band plays an arrangement featuring guitars, saxophone and drums.
The album features work from late drummer Charlie Watts, who is featured on two of the tracks he recorded in 2019, two years before his passing in 2021, according to the AP.
Jagger told the AP that the joint effort came about after Lady Gaga had been working on music at the same Los Angeles studio they were at, when she stopped by to say hello.
‘She walked in next to me and we started singing together,’ Jagger said. ‘She sang it live and then we went in and tidied it up a bit.’
Wood told Sky News that ‘Stevie’s just so wonderful to watch’ and the ‘lovely’ and ‘very talented’ Gaga brought a creative energy into the recording studio with her.
‘She was sitting on the floor in the studio,’ he said, ‘and Mick said, “Don’t just sit there and hum. Get up. Let’s record this.”‘
