The NFL has shut down rumors that organizers were planning to give out free Taylor Swift-style friendship bracelets during the Jets’ home game against Kansas City on Sunday, amid the pop star’s romance with Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
News of Swift potentially showing up in the Big Apple this weekend, particularly at MetLife Stadium, emerged earlier this week after she was spotted cheering on Kelce at Arrowhead when the Chiefs beat the Bears, 41-10, on September 24.
Since then, speculation of her most popular concert accessory potentially being at a professional football game has gone through the roof, although it now appears that the rumor was too good to be true in the first place.
‘Sources: The NFL & #Jets are NOT giving out friendship bracelets to #Chiefs fans attending Sunday Night Football,’ tweeted SNY’s Connor Hughes.
‘That’s not happening,’ he added.

Friendship bracelets have been a major talking point during Swift’s ‘Eras’ tour this year, as fans marveled about the accessory as a way to connect with others based on shared experiences.
Swift even sang about coming up with the idea in the lyrics of her song ‘You’re on Your Own, Kid’: ‘Cause there were pages turned with the bridges burned. Everything you lose is a step you take. So make the friendship bracelets, take the moment and taste it. You’ve got no reason to be afraid.’
Many NFL fans on social media reacted to Friday’s update with relief, as some didn’t even know what a friendship bracelet was to begin with, while few of them showed signs of disappointment.
‘I thought this tweet was a joke at first,’ said a user on X, formerly known as Twitter. ‘missed this nonsense earlier.’
‘[Jets owner] Woody Johnson would pitch a fit,’ shared another.
‘Anklets?’ suggested a fan.

‘Friendship bracelets? You’re joking right?’ said a different person.
‘I dont even know what I friendship bracelet is — but Im quite certain someone can sell 500 of them in MetLife parking lot for $20 bucks each. In three hours,’ tweeted someone else.
‘But yeah, they are giving out free wins though,’ wrote a user, referring to the Jets’ 0-3 record to start the season.
There’s no shaking off the Swift-Kelce buzz, anytime soon, as Kelce’s No. 87 jersey sales skyrocketed last week, spiking 400 percent.
Television ratings for the Bears-Chiefs game soared despite the lopsided score. A total of 24.3million viewers tuned in, making it the second-most watched game this season behind the Lions’ 21-20 upset at Arrowhead on opening day.
