A Southwest Airlines gate attendant threatened to call the police and arrest a fashion influencer because ‘she had too many bags.’
Persephone Maglaya posted a video showing the outrageous moment of her being called out by a Southwest gate attendant for having a salad box.
‘The little satchel with my salad smashed really nicely into my tote,’ Maglaya said in the video, but the gate attendant insisted ‘it was not good enough’.
The influencer was seen in the video with a suitcase and a Christian Dior tote bag – where her salad box fit in.
Maglaya was on her flight from the DC airport to Dallas. With more than 19,000 followers on TikTok and 45,600 followers on Instagram, she has been the CEO of a digital media agency for four years.

The fashion influencer posted videos telling her side of the story, which has drawn 100,000 views and hundreds of comments on TikTok
‘Can you go back to the top please,’ the gate attendant named Joe was heard saying repeatedly as the blogger tried to explain after she consolidated her bags.
A flight attendant stepped in and disagreed with her colleague, ‘I think they can do that,’ after she saw Maglaya’s third bag fit into her tote.
But the man ignored her. He pressed a number on his phone, saying, ‘I’m calling the police,’ at a moment when even his colleague seemed confused and was heard asking, ‘Why are you calling the police?’
The influencer refused to step back and said: ‘I’m not doing anything wrong.’
Maglaya also claimed the gate attendant used his body to stop her from boarding, although she didn’t include it in the video.
Maglaya founded her own company The Media Socialites based in Dalas in 2019. She married to Eduardo Maglaya, also the chief data officer of her company, and has two kids.
The media agency specializes in female owned, female-focused brands with global reach and ability to strategize and execute from visual production to social media.
Before starting her own business, Maglaya had spent more than ten years with WeddingWire, dedicating herself to the career of wedding planning.
DailyMail.com has reached out to Maglaya but has not heard from her immediately.
Maglaya’s videos have drawn more than 100,000 views and hundreds of comments, with her followers expressing outrage over the Southwest gate attendant.
One wrote in a comment: ‘That’s incorrect. You are allowed “food for the flight” which doesn’t count towards the baggage allowance.’
‘Absolutely ridiculous on his part,’ another chimed in.

Many also praised Maglaya for maintaining he stance: ‘Standing her ground is exactly what she should have done. Good job!’
A few questioned the woman, pointing out that she had has her bags tagged. ‘The weight of that bag with the tag is put in a system. That means it HAS to be checked at that point, agent is right.’
But Maglaya responded, saying that it was the gate attendant who insisted on tagging her tote bag: ‘It was my tote that I would never ever put under the plane.’
The captain ended up walking off the plane and apologized to Maglaya for the attendant’s behavior, Maglaya wrote.
