A woman who escaped a ‘house of horrors’ where her father is accused of murdering three babies from an incestuous relationship with one daughter and the rape of another says he is ‘a monster, not a man.’
Kasia Gierasik, who has down syndrome, fled the house in the village of Czerniki two-and-a-half years ago after suffering years of abuse.
Last week, her father Piotr Gierasik, 54, and her 20-year-old sister Paulina were charged with incest and murder after police found the dead babies in the basement.
Prosecutors say that two of the newborns were from the father’s incestuous relationship with Paulina, and that a third was from an older sister who he is accused of raping.
Now, speaking from a shelter run by a local priest, Kasia Gierasik told Poland‘s TVN Uwaga programme: ‘I am worried about my sisters. Because they were sleeping with our father.

‘He used to beat me. I’m glad it’s over. I never want to see him again. [If I did] I would simply say: What have you done?!? Nothing else.
‘He is a monster, not a man.’
Arriving in the small village of less than 200 people 25 years ago, jobless Piotr began claiming benefits for two of his disabled children.
At the same time he is said to have raped the oldest daughter before he began sleeping with his youngest daughter Paulina.
Meanwhile, he physically abused Kasia and her mentally disabled brother Damian.
Delivering all of his late wife’s eight sons and four daughters, by the time of the arrests all but Paulina and Damian had left.
Father Czesław Marchewicz who runs the Osada Burego Misia shelter where Kasia now lives said: ‘She came here completely neglected, her hair was a mess and her broken glasses were taped together with plasters.
‘It turned out that they were broken after her father beat her.
‘It was a concentration camp. Those girls and children with disabilities were earning for him. That’s why he never wanted to let Kasia and Damian leave, he never worked from what I know.

Piotr, 54, and Paulina Gierasik, 20, allegedly dumped all three of the incest-born children in their basement
The front door has been shut as Polish police continue their investigation
According to prosecutors, two of the murdered children came from his relationship with the 20-year-old who they say was in a consensual relationship with her father
Moving to the village around 15 years ago, Piotr was left to bring up his children after his wife died
‘They provided him with a living. As far as I know, he didn’t work himself.
‘[But] the dad bought [Paulina] cosmetics, clothes, good food, they had a room with a TV in it, it was the best decorated room, but the other children couldn’t watch it.
‘When the dad left the house, he locked the room so that no one could use it. There was a sofa bed and on that sofa bed they [he and Paulina] slept together.
‘The fridge was also locked and only her father and Paulina could use it.’
He added that Kasia and her brother Damian were fed nothing but cold rice and groats. Damian was still living in the house at the time of the arrests.
An employee of the local community centre said: ‘Piotr wore designer clothes, he bought perfumes for Paulina, but Damian was wearing ragged old trousers.
‘He was so malnourished that when he came to our centre he could eat four meals. There were times when he slept on benches behind the village community centre. He didn’t deserve such treatment.
‘He has a very good heart. After returning from the centre, before he entered the house, he always went to get food and feed the dogs.
‘He didn’t start talking until he was seven. When he was little, he liked to sit on my lap. His father then started shouting that he had to come in, but I told him to stay.
‘On the day when the bodies of the babies were found Damian sat on a bench next to me. He said he was being treated badly and insulted and would have to move out.
‘He also told me that his sister and father do ‘that’.’
As the village continues to reel from the shock revelations, neighbours now say the death of Piotr’s former wife Hanna was ‘suspicious’.
One called Slawomira said: ‘Hanna cared about the children very much. She once confided to me that Piotr climbs into their daughters’ bed at night.
‘I told her to report it, but she was afraid. She even said that if she did he might kill her. She herself was his victim. She was beaten up. She had bruises on her arms, legs and black eyes.

Police were seen searching the property to see if any more bodies are hidden in the house
‘At first she was quite plump, but then she became thinner and thinner. He probably stuffed her with some pills.
‘He also bought her spirits [cheap vodka], the kind in plastic bottles, to get rid of her.
‘He finished her off. They took her to the hospital. We only found out that she turned yellow and then died there.
Another told MailOnline: ‘She was never sick, but suddenly she lost weight, her hair fell out, she was hospitalised and never came out alive.
‘Her death was never explained, I don’t believe she just died like that, she was only 38 years old.’
As the police continue to probe the dark world of Piotr and Paulina Gierasik, villagers say that he is also the father of twins born to his third daughter.
They are now speculating about whether an area of marshy land close to the house of horrors could hide more bodies.
One villager told Fakt newspaper: ‘Apparently the police checked the entire area thoroughly. They walked everywhere.
‘However, I suspect that this marshy area next to these people’s house, which we call ‘mud’, may hide more remains of children. People like this could have done anything.’
It has also emerged that since being in custody, Paulina has defended her relationship with her father, saying she didn’t think there was anything wrong.
According to Fakt newspaper, a source ‘close to the investigation’ said: ‘This is shocking and downright terrible.
‘This woman defends her father at all costs, claims that everything is fine and that there is nothing wrong with being in a relationship with her father.
‘She is downright rude and arrogant. This is about the death of children, and she shows no remorse. She behaves as if this was normal.’

Paulina was often seen walking around the village hand-in-hand with her father as if they were a couple.
The peculiar relationship between the two was reported to prosecutors 12 years ago.
As the MailOnline found out, the father and daughter were said to have been seen choosing perfumes together on rare outings to a local shop and calling each other, ‘Darling’.
Others have described hearing the sound of ‘moaning and screaming’ coming from their rundown brick and stone built house beside a boggy field on the outskirts of Czerniki.
A local man called Zdzislaw told the TVN Uwaga programme: ‘I was a witness, I was questioned under oath.
‘I said then that Piotr’s older daughter was pregnant. I was treated like a piece of shit, as if I was a 15 or 16-year-old child who had made this up.
‘But they behaved like a couple, an engaged couple. It was the same with the older daughter and the one who is now in custody.
‘These are the same mechanisms, the same behaviours. For sure these two dead babies could have been avoided.’
But prosecutors failed to pick up on the danger signs.
Kasia said: ‘When the prosecutor came, we had to sit quietly and not say anything, my father was just telling his tales.’
Despite probation officers being appointed to oversee the family and Piotr being told to take ‘parenting classes’, court spokesman Łukasz Zioła said: ‘Based on the information provided by the district court, there were no grounds to form suspicions
‘In 2011 the court had to rely on information from the prosecutor’s office which did not provide grounds for investigating these types of allegations.’
Stunned local mayor Marian Pick said: ‘I don’t know how this man was able to stage all this.
‘He’s a monster, not a father.’
