The family of Ashley Dale have arrived at court ahead of the trial of six men in connection to her murder.
Ashley’s mother, Julie Dale, walked into the Queen Elizabeth II Law Court holding hands with her partner Rob Jones and Ashley’s sister.
Her father, Steve Dunne, was also in attendance alongside them and walked in surrounded by other family members.
The 28-year-old Knowsley Council environmental health officer died after being found in the back garden of her home on Leinster Road, Old Swan, on August 21 last year.
Detectives said that a gunman has fired multiple shots ‘indiscriminately’ through her home and one had hit Ashley in the abdomen. She is not believed to have been the intended target of the shooting.

The five men who face a trial at Liverpool Crown Court on charges of murdering Ashley, are are James Witham, 41, of Ashbury Road, Huyton, Ian Fitzgibbon, 28, from St Helens, Niall Barry, 26, of Tuebrook, Sean Zeisz, 28, of Huyton, and Joseph Peers, 28, of Roby.
The five men are also accused of conspiracy to murder Lee Harrison, possession of a prohibited weapon – namely a Skorpion submachine gun and ammunition – with intent to endanger life and conspiracy to possess a prohibited weapon with intent to endanger life.
Sean Zeisz, of Longreach Road, Niall Barry, of Moscow Drive, and Joseph Peers, of Woodlands Road have also pleaded not guilty to the same charges previously.
Ian Fitzgibbon, aged 28 and of Heigham Gardens, is yet to enter pleas to these alleged offences. A sixth man, Kallum Radford, 25, of no fixed address, has been charged with assisting an offender in the wake of Ms Dale’s death.
The trial is expected to last for six to eight weeks.
