A young eshay has been charged with supplying the drug that allegedly killed a 21-year-old concertgoer after police swooped to arrest the suspected dealer at Sydney Airport.

The music fan died shortly after attending the Knockout Outdoor rave at Sydney Olympic Park on Saturday when he collapsed at a hotel on George St in the city’s CBD.

The young man was rushed to St Vincent’s Hospital but he could not be revived and he died in the early hours of Sunday morning.

A second man, Jason Lee, 26, also died from a suspected drug overdose after attending the same music festival with 53,000 others at Sydney Showground.

Police immediately began an investigation and on Monday, detectives intercepted Trong Ha Nguyen as he tried to tried to board a plane at the airport.

The 23-year-old Victorian man was allegedly in possession of $13,535 in cash when police searched him after his arrest.

He was taken to nearby Mascot police station and charged with supplying a self-administered prohibited drug causing death, and dealing with property proceeds of crime of less than $100,000.

He was remanded in custody to face Sydney’s Downing Centre Local Court on Tuesday where he was denied bail and will return to court on November 30.

Ten others were taken to hospital apparently suffering from drugs and the stifling heat at the all day ‘hardstyle’ music festival.

Some fans complained over the heavy policing of the concert and the use of drug dogs which was causing some drug users to panic and use all their drugs at once to avoid arrest.

More than 70 people were charged over drug offences at Knockout and Listen Out festival which was taking place simultaneously at Centennial Park in Sydney’s east.

Around 85 people out of the 27,500 people who attended Listen Out were allegedly detected with drugs, according to NSW Police.

Knockout Outdoor festival drew in 53,000 people, with 27 charged with drug possession and four with supplying illicit substances.

In the wake of the deaths, revellers came forward to report a bad batch of drugs circulating around Sydney.

‘[I] had noticed that quality has been more rubbish than usual but also suppliers jackin out s** drugs to make a profit, and then s*** like this happens cuz our government refuses to allow pill testing,’ one person wrote.

Some 53,000 people attended Knockout Outdoor ‘hardstyle’ music festival on Saturday

The incidents happened days after NSW Health warned about high-dose ecstasy tablets, which state health minister Ryan Park feared were ‘particularly harmful’.

The deaths come as debate continues to rage over whether pill testing should be introduced at festivals, with pressure on the government to implement facilities likely to increase if the two fatalities turn out to be overdoses.

Pill testing trials at the Canberra’s Groovin the Moo festival in 2019 found seven tablets contained lethal substances Nethyl pentylone, which has been linked to multiple overdoses at overseas festivals.

All seven revellers discarded the pills once they found out what they contained.

Last month, radio presenter Ray Hadley called for the government to take action and implement the facilities, warning revellers would die without them.
