US Representative Henry Cuellar was carjacked on Monday night by three armed attackers in crime-ridden Washington DC

The Texas Democrat was not harmed during the scary assault at his home – but his white Honda CHR with Texas plates was stolen.

Cuellar’s chief of staff Jacob Hochberg released a statement: ‘As Congressman Cuellar was parking his car this evening, 3 armed assailants approached the Congressman and stole his vehicle.

‘Luckily, he was not harmed and is working with local law enforcement.’

The robbery occurred at 9:30pm at New Jersey Avenue and K Street SE in Washington’s Navy Yard area, about a mile from the U.S. Capitol.

Just last week, Cuellar demanded ‘repercussions’ for illegal migrants amid a fresh surge of border crossings.

Border crossings in fiscal year 2023, which ends at the end of September, are on track to surpass that of 2022 after figures showed an uptick of 50,000 in apprehensions in the month of August.

‘We need to have repercussions at the border. What does that mean? You’ve got to deport people, and you’ve got to show images of people being deported,’ Cuellar told Fox News Sunday.

‘When was the last time we saw people going the other way instead of just seeing people flow in?’

The moderate Democrat represents a region along the border that encompasses San Antonio. Neither Joe Biden nor Donald Trump have a plan to solve the problem, according to Cuellar.

‘I think Trump went too much to the right by doing the separation of families and kids, and then I think President Biden, the administration, is not doing enough. We’ve got find the right balance,’ he told host Bill Hemmer.

‘You’ve got to listen to the community leaders.’

The congressman said the U.S. needed to convince Mexico to step up and secure its own borders to stop migrants before they reach the U.S. border.

‘I’ve been saying this for years,’ Cuellar said, ‘we as Democrats and Republicans can continue playing defense on the 1-yard line, or we can play defense on their 20-yard line — and that is getting Mexico to do more.’
