Jonathan Taylor has committed his long-term future to the Colts, signing a three-year extension with the franchise.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, his deal is worth $42million, with $26.5million guaranteed.

Taylor has yet to play this season after requesting a trade out of Indianapolis, with the team placing him on the physically unable to perform list for the first four games.

He was reportedly frustrated at not receiving a contract extension offer as he approached the final year of his rookie deal.

Taylor rushed for 1,811 yards in the 2021 season – more than any other player in the league

Taylor, who was listed on the PUP list as having an ankle injury, was activated this week. 

The Colts had previously given Taylor a deadline of August 29 – the leaguewide roster cutdown date – to find a suitable trade partner.

The 24-year-old is set to take home a base salary of $4.3million this year, and quickly established himself as one of the league’s best running back’s after being drafted in 2020.

The former Wisconsin back was named a first-team All-Pro in 2021 as he led the league with 1,811 rushing yards.

Taylor will return to the the field this weekend vs. the Titans, with Indianapolis’ rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson helping the team to a 2-2 start.
