Santa Monica’s pier has been cordoned off after a person on the Ferris wheel reportedly made a bomb threat.
Police have not confirmed that a bomb threat had been made, but The Santa Monica Observer reported that a man on a gondola on the pier claimed he had a bomb.
Police confirmed that the area was closed, and photos on social media showed a heavy police presence.
‘I can confirm that we have officers out on the Pier contacting a subject in Pacific Park,’ said Lt. Erika Aklufi, spokesperson for Santa Monica Police Department.
‘We are shutting down the pier to control access for officers.’
