A body has been found in a burnt-out car following a grass fire at a vacant plot of land. 

The body was discovered inside the vehicle after it was found at Johnson Street, in Bundaberg, around 370 kilometres north of Brisbane on Tuesday about 8:20pm. 

Emergency services were called to the scene following reports of a grass fire.

A spokesperson from Queensland police said the incident is  being treat as suspicious after car was found near the area

‘Officers found a vehicle was also alight nearby and a deceased person was located inside the car,’ the spokesperson said. 

‘A crime scene was declared and investigations into the incident are underway’.

Queensland police said they are treating the death as suspicious after officers located the car  nearby the area after emergency crews attended the scene following reports of a grass fire

‘Anyone who may have witnessed a vehicle driving into grassland on Johnston Street before the fire, or who may have further information that could assist investigators, is urged to contact police’. 

Investigations into the incident remain ongoing.
