Gigi Hadid has broken her silence on Hamas’ attacks on Israel which left at least 1,400 Israelis and Palestinians dead.
The supermodel, 28, whose father Mohamed is of Palestinian origin, took to Instagram to share a post condemning the ‘terrorizing of innocent people’ under the Free Palestine movement’ and sending love and support to her Palestinian and Jewish friends.
Israel launched retaliatory strikes against Hamas after the militant group launched a series of attacks on Saturday, in the biggest escalation in the region in decades.
Hadid wrote: ‘My thoughts are with all those affected by this unjustifiable tragedy and every day that innocent lives are taken by this conflict – too many of which are children.
‘I have deep empathy and heartbreak for the Palestinian struggle and life under occupation, it’s a responsibility I hold daily
‘I also feel a responsibility to my Jewish friends to make it clear, as I have before: While I have hopes and dreams for Palestinians, none of them include the harm of a Jewish person.

Statement: The supermodel, 28 took to Instagram to share a post condemning the ‘terrorizing of innocent people’ under the Free Palestine movement’ and sending love and support to her Palestinian and Jewish friends
‘The terrorizing of innocent people is not in alignment with & does not do any good for the ‘Free Palestine’ movement.’
‘The idea that it does has fueled a painful, decades long cycle of back & forth retaliation (which no innocent civilian, Palestinian or Israeli, deserves to be a casualty of) and helps perpetuate the false idea that being Pro-Palestine = antisemitic.
‘If you are hurting as I share my condolences today with my loves ones, both Palestinian and Jewish, I’m sending you my love and strength – whoever and wherever you are.
‘There are a lot of complex, personal and valid feelings, but every human deserves basic rights, treatment and security; no matter their nationality, religion, ethnicity or where they were born
‘I know my words will never be enough or heal the deep wounds of so many, but I pray for the safety of innocent lives, always.’
Both Gigi and supermodel sister Bella Hadid, 26, have previously shared anti-Israeli posts.
In May 2021 Bella and Gigi sparked a firestorm over an Instagram post that said Israel was not a country, but rather a land settled by colonizers.

Bella published the series of cartoons that called Israel ‘occupiers’ and called Palestinians ‘oppressed.’
Gigi then liked the post, amplifying the cartoons riddled with historic inaccuracies and anti-Semitic tropes to her 66.2 million followers.
The Hadid sisters’ posts come as Israel pressed ahead with a fierce military offensive in the Gaza Strip, killing as many as 11 senior Hamas terrorist military figures in retaliation for artillery and mortar that had been lobbed into Israel from Palestinian areas.
Their father Mohamed Hadid, 74, is a Palestinian born in Nazareth in November 1948, four months after his city was captured by Israeli forces. The family fled to Syria, and ultimately to Washington DC. He has Jordanian and American citizenship.
In 2018, Gigi said on Twitter: ‘I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. For me, this is not about religion or one against the other — it’s about the greed,’ using the hashtags ‘Free Palestine,’ ‘Free Gaza,’ and ‘Coexist,’ with a peace-sign emoji.
She later added: ‘My intent is never to further separate groups in hatred. I’m not anti-anyone. I am only pro-coexistence.’
In March 2022, Hadid was slammed for comparing the Russian invasion of Ukraine to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in an Instagram post
When Trump recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, Bella wrote: ‘The treatment of the Palestinian people is unfair, one-sided and should not be tolerated. I stand with Palestine’.

‘Our eyes and hearts must be open to all human injustice,’ she wrote, concluding: ‘HANDS OFF UKRAINE. HANDS OFF PALESTINE. PEACE. PEACE. PEACE.’
Vogue magazine would go on to scrub any mention of Palestine from an Instagram post about her efforts to donate her fashion show earnings to the country and also Ukraine – only to put it back in amid backlash and accusations of anti-semitism.
This comes after Gal Gadot revealed her heartbreak over Hamas’ attack on Israel.
The Israeli actress, 38 – who previously said the ‘world must not sit on the fence’ over the war in Israel and Palestine – urged her followers to donate funds for those affected by the weekend’s attacks and slammed people reacting to the atrocities with ‘justification not empathy’ on Tuesday.
Sharing a post which read ‘Israel is under attack and we need your support’, she wrote: ‘Whoever can, and willing to donate, these peoples lives changed forever yesterday. They’ve lost so much and need help. Only if you can.’
She later wrote on her stories: ‘Whoever can and wiling to donate, these people’s lives changed forever yesterday
‘They’ve lost so much and need help. Only if you can. If you have less empathy towards victims because of how you feel about their government, propaganda is working on you.
Post: Gal Gadot revealed her heartbreak over Hamas’ attack on Israel this week
‘The goal of propaganda is to dehumanize. It works to dehumanize Israelis and works to dehumanize Gazans
‘I like to think most of us are above propaganda. But this weekend reminded me how widespread it is. Because a lot of people reacted to this violence with justification, not empathy
‘I guess it’s not surprising but it’s still heartbreaking. Propaganda is everywhere. It seeps into us over time. It seeks to block our empathy receptors. So when we see violence, we rationalize away our human response
‘Killing innocent Palestinians is horrific. Killing innocent Israelis is horrific. If you don’t feel the same I think you should ask yourself why that is.’
On Saturday, she also posted a screenshot of an article that detailed how Israeli soldiers and civilians had been taken hostage by militants.
She wrote: ‘At least 250 Israeli have been murdered and dozens of women children and elders held as hostages in Gaza, by Palestinian military group Hamas.
‘Starting early morning more than 3,000 rockets were fire. Hamas is holding hostages, controlling bases and settlements in Israel. There have been more than 1,500 injured and heavy fighting is still ongoing. ‘I hear their voices and they are banging on the door. I am with my two little children. My heart is aching.’

She continued defending her request that the terrorists film horizontally: ‘I just wanna make sure there’s 4k footage of my people breaking down the walls of the open air prison they’ve been forced out of their homes and into so we have good options for the history books that write about how how they freed themselves from apartheid.
