The size of parking bays across the country could be increased to make room for the larger American-style cars and utes that have soared in popularity in Australia.
Standards Australia is inviting public feedback on a draft proposal aimed at extending the standard size of off-street parking lots.
It comes as the popularity of dual cab utes and mega US-style pick-up trucks soars in Australia.
Under the proposal, off-street parking bays, such as parking lots, would be expanded to a length of 5.6 meters.
The national dimension requirements for on-street and off-street parking spaces is set by Standards Australia and is currently 2.4m by 5.4m.
