Kylie Jenner sent the internet into a frenzy after she revealed she had changed her son Wolf’s name after deciding the moniker was ‘just not him’ – but she’s far from the only star to have second thoughts on their children’s names.

From the make-up mogul’s own sister, Khloé Kardashian, to  Amy Schumer who realized her son’s name sounded like ‘genital’ and Elon Musk’s desire to give his son a truly unique space-age name – many famous parents have opted to switch up their children’s names.

Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul and wife Lauren Parsekian even changed their son’s first and middle names entirely after initially giving a name at the hospital before changing their minds later on.

In 2022, the Social Security Administration ‘recorded nearly 30,000 baby name changes’ over the past five years.

Amid the rise of ‘baby-name regret’ among celebrities, DailyMail.com looks back on the superstars that went back to the drawing board on what to call their little ones…

The 25-year-old reality star and her former partner, rapper Travis Scott, originally named their second child, Wolf, before changing his moniker to Aire, which means Lion of God.

The mother-of-two revealed they made the switch because she felt Wolf didn’t fit her tot’s personality.

During an interview on The Late Late Show With James Cordon last year in September, Jenner had hinted on her plans to change her son’s original name.

‘We haven’t officially legally changed the name,’ she admitted, at the time. ‘His name is still Wolf. His passport’s Wolf, but that isn’t gonna be his name. We’re just waiting.’

On the finale of The Kardashians, which aired in July, she recalled ‘crying in the shower’ because she knew in her gut that she hadn’t chosen the right name.

‘The advice I would give to you is: find your name before your hormones start raging and you have the child. It was the hormones that took me out,’ she told viewers.

Jenner added: ‘I didn’t realize the postpartum would hit me that hard. I never called him Wolf, ever.’

On podcast 3 Girls, 1 Keith, the Trainwreck star revealed that the couple changed Gene’s middle name.

‘Do you guys know that Gene, our baby’s name is officially changed? It’s now Gene David Fischer. It was Gene Attell Fischer, but we realized that we, by accident, named our son ‘Genital’.’ Amy explained.

Amy and her husband discussed the change with Attell and they decided to use his first name instead.

Her son’s first name is thought to be in honor of late actor and comedian Gene Wilder.

KHLOE KARDASHIAN AND TRISTAN THOMPSON’S SON TATUM

In August, Kardashian legally changed her child’s name to Tatum Thompson after initially identifying him as ‘Baby Kardashian’ on his birth certificate, according to People.

At the time of Tatum’s birth, Khloe had not yet decided on the child’s name.

She and her then-boyfriend Tristan Thompson welcomed Tatum via surrogate  in July 2022. They also have five-year-old daughter True together.

California law allows parents to give their child either the paternal last name, the maternal last name, or a combination of the two, People reports. The final decision will be permanent unless the court intervenes.

While Khloe initially gave her son Tatum the legal surname Kardashian when he was born, she later changed his surname to Thompson, TMZ reported in June.

The site reported at the time that the baby had a different first name initially, but they were unable to confirm what that was.

AARON PAUL AND LAUREN PARSEKIAN CHANGE SON’S NAME

In 2022, Aaron Paul petitioned to change the legal first names of their son Ryden Caspian, 7 months, who was first named Casper Emerson.

At the time, TMZ reported that Aaron and Lauren detailed how they were required to give a name at the hospital for their son, before changing their minds later on and switching to Ryden.

They also note their reason for filing being that they want to ‘keep the family name consistent.’

Paul and Parsekian married in 2013 after meeting at Coachella in 2009. They reunited at the music festival again the following year, and the pair shared their first kiss.

They became engaged on New Year’s Eve in 2011 while the pair enjoyed their holiday in Paris.

GRIMES AND ELON MUSK TONE DOWN SPACE-AGE NAME

Grimes and billionaire Elon Musk famously tweaked their son’s name to follow California guidelines.

After initially announcing his name as X Æ A-12, their little one’s birth certificate ultimately states his first name is X and middle name is A AE-XII.

The change was most likely made to follow California requirements that a name must be made from the English alphabet, not numbers and special signs.

The WandaVision star, 49, and hubby Ethan Sandler, 49, filed a petition last year to add ‘Hahn’ as a second middle name before their last name ‘Sandler’ according to TMZ.

The couple has yet to give details as to why they decided to make the name changes, but 16-year-old Leonard will now be, Leonard Henry Hahn Sandler, and 13-year-old Mae will be, Mae Marie Hahn Sandler.

Hahn and Sandler are college sweethearts who met at Northwestern University and have been married since 2002.

Their oldest child, Leonard, was born in 2006. He was followed by Mae, who was born three years later in 2009.

Like her younger sisters Kylie and Khloé, Kourtney Kardashian struggled when it came to coming up with the perfect name for her third child.

While still in a relationship with Scott Disick, the duo spent a week testing out different monikers for their youngest child together, Reign, who was born in December 2014.

‘I would try out a different name on different days,’ Kourtney said. ‘The whole day! One day … his name was Preston for one whole day.’

Bachelor alum Lauren Bushnell Lane admitted to having a ‘Kylie Jenner moment’ after changing her mind about her son’s name.

Earlier in this month, the influencer, 33, revealed to her followers that she changed her nearly one-year-old son Baker Lane’s middle name from Weston to West.

She explained that she and her husband had impulsively decided on their child’s middle name in the hospital.

‘I just dropped off Baker’s name change form at the Vital Records Office, but I’m just having a Kylie Jenner moment, you know, changing my son’s name,’ she explained to followers on her Instagram Stories.

She clarified they only changed their child’s middle name, and his first name remains the same.

‘[It] was Weston, we actually, like, panicked in the hospital because we just couldn’t decide and it was between West and Weston, and we ended up going with Weston,’ she said.

Lauren explained how the new name suited her child better and how her family had already been calling him ‘West.’

Fortunately for Lauren, the process of changing her child’s name was painless.

‘It’s super easy if you want to change your kid’s name when they’re under one. Very easy, just had to pay $15,’ she added.

Lauren previously told Us Weekly her child’s name was on a list of baby names she had created on her phone.

TYLER BALTIERRA AND CATELYNN LOWELL’S MY GIRL NAME

Within one month of their daughter’s birth, Catelynn Lowell, and Tyler Baltierra already had regrets.

The Teen Mom stars told Us Weekly in 2019 that they had originally planned to call their third child together Tezlee, but opted for Vaeda after Anna Chlumsky’s character in the movie My Girl.

They’d earlier revealed their plans to name their unexpected baby Tezlee, during a December episode of Teen Mom OG.

However, Catelynn admitted that she soured on the name after a time.

‘Every time someone would say Tezlee, we would cringe! It just wasn’t sitting with us like it did at first. Tyler told me about the name Vaeda and I fell in love with it! It’s from the movie My Girl, which is a movie that Tyler showed me years ago,’ she revealed.

They appear to have modified the spelling of the name, as the character from the 1991 coming of age comedy-drama is Vada (Sultenfuss).

Doug later added that he accidentally and coincidentally also called Hayes Hendrix during his birth.

Jamie explained that she felt ‘pressured to make a decision’ when it came to his name as she thought it would help her bond more with her son, ahead of his birth.

Jamie and Doug made the final decision on Saturday when they were filling out Hendrix’s birth certificate.

The Counting On alum and spouse recently welcomed a daughter, named Nora Kate.

The couple dated for a year before getting hitched in April 2021.

They wed in front of ‘family and close friends’ according to People
