Cervical cancer is most frequently diagnosed in women between the ages of 35 and 45, though over 20 percent of YS diagnoses happen after the age of 65.
According to the National Cancer Institute, when cervical cancer is diagnosed at an early stage, the five-year relative survival rate is 91 percent. Once it has spread to nearby tissues and organs, that rate plummets to 60 percent.
