A teenage boy reported missing by family members has been found dead as a result of quad-bike accident.
Worried loved ones called police on Wednesday afternoon after the 16-year-old could not be found at a property near Wynyard, on Tasmania‘s north coast.
His body was found down an embankment on Minnies road in the early hours of Thursday following a brief search.
The circumstances surrounding the single-vehicle crash are being investigated by the Western Crash Investigation Services.
Tasmania Police extended their ‘thoughts and condolences’ to the boy’s family and loved ones following the heartbreaking discovery.

‘Minnies Road and Smith Road Wynyard is currently closed while emergency services are at the scene,’ a statement from Tasmania Police reads.
‘People are asked to avoid the area until police have finalised their investigations.’
Anyone with information regarding a red Honda quad-bike in the area after 4pm on Wednesday has been urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
