Shocking dashcam footage has captured the moment a driver passed by a man who had pulled his car over on a busy highway for a quick prayer.
The man was seen on Melbourne‘s Monash Freeway at 7:40pm on Wednesday near an off-ramp onto High Street in Glen Iris as cars rushed by at roughly 80km per hour.
He had parked his car in the emergency lane at the side of the busy freeway and was facing his head towards the road during his prayers.
A stunned driver on Melbourne’s Monash Freeway captured the moment someone pulled over to pray in the emergency lane at 7:40pm on Wednesday
The driver told the Herald Sun that they were shocked to see the peculiar sight on such a busy road.
‘[While] coming up to the car on the side of the road, I glanced over and saw the man on his knees praying and bowing,’ they said.
‘He was close to finishing his prayers by the time I drove past. As I went past him, I saw him starting to stand up.’
The driver said that although they were empathetic to the religious beliefs of some people, obstructing an emergency lane on a busy freeway was dangerous.
They suggested instead that the man could have pulled off the freeway in order to pray on a quieter road instead.
Daily Mail Australia has contacted Victoria Police for comment.
